Title: Videostroboscopy and Laryngeal Imaging Course

Learning Objectives:

1) Participants will learn to apply laryngeal imaging appropriately for the purposes of describing exam results and treating voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders (as applicable).

2) Participants will demonstrate understanding of the WHAT, WHEN, WHY, and HOW related to laryngeal imaging and videostroboscopy.

3) Participants will develop basic techniques for laryngeal videostroboscopy, including an introductory to intermediate level of performance and interpretation of exams, with a focus on interpretation using the VALI-R.

4) Participants will demonstrate an understanding of how to apply videostroboscopy findings to voice treatment planning and/or appropriate referrals.

ALL THINGS AIRWAY course

Within this 36 module self-study course including 6 hours of content, you will learn ALL THINGS AIRWAY including: airway conditions in general, normal breathing function, the role of the larynx, inducible laryngeal obstruction/ILO (diagnostics and treatment), exercise induced laryngeal obstruction/EILO (diagnostics and treatment), breathing pattern disorder/BPD (diagnostics and treatment), unique airway-related conditions (including laryngeal and subglottic stenosis, sarcoidosis and amyloidosis, and laryngeal mucous membrane pemphigoid/MMP), the importance of videostroboscopy and biofeedback in working with these patients, lower airway obstructions in general, asthma, exercise induced bronchoconstriction/EIB, the value of Buteyko techniques, misdiagnosing upper airway conditions for asthma, laryngeal edema, angioedema, anaphylaxis, other ILO/EILO mimics, COPD, bronchiectasis, cough hypersensitivity syndrome/CHS (diagnostics and treatment), posterior glottic insufficiency/PGI, post intubation phonatory insufficiency/PIPI, extrathoracic obstructions, interesting airway-related case studies, mucus, Reinke's edema, granulomas, papillomas, laryngeal cancer, vocal fold atrophy, vocal fold mobility impairments, globus sensation, the power of your mission as an SLP, the power of exams for teaching and education, and reminders that YOU make a difference in your work and otherwise…! After completing this course you will receive a certificate & can submit 6 hours to ASHA as personal development hours (PDHs).

Title: All Things AIRWAY (from the SLP perspective)

Learner Objectives:

1)    Participants will define ILO, EILO, and BPD and describe ways to discern between these airway-related diagnoses. Participants will define a variety of other airway-related diagnoses and describe how their management is applicable (or not applicable) to the SLP.

2)    Participants will describe appropriate treatment-related management of applicable airway-related diagnoses.

3)    Participants will describe scenarios where surgical (vs therapeutic) treatment is necessary to ensure optimal airway-related function and outcomes.

4)    Participants will demonstrate an understanding of how to apply endoscopy-related findings to treatment planning and decision-making, including the benefit of biofeedback use for improving patient carryover and understanding.
