GRATEFUL and EXCITED!

Although it isn’t #throwbackthursday, I am throwing this one back to when I led the first ever state-wide NSSLHA conference over 12 years ago at Miami University. I have always LOVED public speaking, continuing education, & being involved with gathering like-minded passionate individuals together to share ideas, expand minds, & create platforms for intellectual growth. Within the field of speech pathology, our goals always involve a consistent desire to help, educate, empower, rehabilitate, & inspire others—especially those who have lost abilities we so often take for granted (speaking, swallowing, breathing, singing, remembering, etc.).

I am SO EXCITED to share that I received the AMAZING news last week that my research abstract I submitted a few months back has been accepted to be a PODIUM presentation at The Fall Voice Conference in Dallas this October!!! This is truly exciting to me because I have presented research at several conferences in the past via poster presentations, BUT I have always DREAMED of the chance to be up at the podium & actively present my research in front of like-minded professionals in my field. This is a DREAM COME TRUE, & one that I have imagined in my mind & heart at every conference I’ve attended while soaking up insane information and wisdom from esteemed & honorable colleagues in my field as they presented their passions &/or research to the audience. I am very grateful for this opportunity & truly look forward to this presentation although it is now months away. DREAMS become reality when passion, purpose, and persistence meet. You must follow your heart, & you must pay attention to that little VOICE in your head & heart that doesn’t go away—it most certainly is directing you towards your MISSION.

“Our VOICE resonates with life. Because this is so, it can touch the lives of others” (Daisaku Ikeda). I am ecstatic to be involved professionally with this great conference, in the midst of renowned voice specialists and medical professionals, & representing my personal research which meshes the worlds of medical & occupational voice AND fitness (MY TWO PASSIONS). I am very grateful for those passions & desires of my heart God has blessed me with & the drive to pursue them to make a difference in my life professionally & MORE IMPORTANTLY in the lives of others. THANK YOU to everyone who participated in my past research & THANK YOU to those who will be participating in my future research as well! STAY TUNED!!
