Just Do It!

What does an empty mic mean to you? Whether it is standing tall with a music stand next to it in a church or other music venue…OR in the form of a headset waiting to be put on to aid in motivating and inspiring fifty people to reach new fitness goals…OR in the form of a personal amplification device to be worn while giving a presentation to a large group of business professionals... WHAT does an empty mic mean to you?
.
.
If it makes you nervous, that’s normal…and you are not alone. “Sometimes what you’re most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free” (Robert Tew). If it excites you, that’s excellent—that means you are wired to speak (or sing) your truth to others. “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire” (Jennifer Lee). If you aren’t sure how you feel about it, that’s okay too—it takes time to identify your truth, your passion, your mission, and your purpose…and doing so will create a desire inside you to share your ever-important message with the world. “Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that is going to help you grow” (Caroline Myss).
.
.
The best way to get better at something, is to actually DO that thing…over and over again…practice it, become familiar with it, learn all about it, and be not afraid of it. “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it…That is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear” (Dale Carnegie). If you hear a VOICE inside you that wants to SING, then by all means listen to it—and SING! If you have a mission speaking to your soul, then by all means listen—and find a way to speak your passion and purpose to others. If there is a REASON behind the task, small details like anxiety or feelings of inadequacy that come from the negative committee in your head DO NOT MATTER. What would you do if you knew you would not fail? You must go and do that! And GROW from those failures, but make sure you call them areas of OPPORTUNITY (because that’s what they are).
.
.
Your passion fuels your purpose. This purpose guides your mission, and your mission is what you were made for. USE that microphone to positively impact others. It doesn’t matter that you aren’t perfect, your quest towards perfection guides your evolution—and perfection is never the goal, because it isn’t possible. What IS possible becoming better every day and evolving into YOUR best self, YOUR best VOICE—finding YOUR authentic VOICE and never letting it go. It doesn’t matter if you are off key or you forget your lines or even if your voice quivers, what matters is that you START somewhere and find joy in your journey as you activate your instrument to impact others.
.
.
Be patient with yourself and realize the power you hold to change the lives of others WITH YOUR VOICE. Realize your power as you accept the invitation of that microphone! Embrace the power within you to positively impact co-workers, students, colleagues, clients, and general listeners. There is no better time than now to step into your vocal potential.
